Are you planning on going on a vacation sometime soon and are looking for a list of items that will make your trip more enjoyable? This post will give you some carry on necessity ideas for your next flight.

Carry on necessities

First things first, you will need a good carry-on bag, I find that backpacks work great because you can just keep it close to you and have everything you need at arm’s length, But if you are planning on packing a lot more items then you will need a bigger carry-on. This larger carry-on bag is perfect it looks amazing and it will hold all your important belongings.

  • Cross-body bag – I always used to wear a purse but when traveling I like to be hands-free and don’t want something heavy on my shoulder while I’m navigating through the airport. I still bring my purses along on my trip, I just pack them in my checked bag and take them out when I have arrived at my hotel.
  • Water bottle – since it is important to stay hydrated taking along your own water bottle that you can reuse throughout your trip is a handy idea even if you just use it at the airport.
  • Sunglasses – if you are going somewhere warm that gets plenty of bright sunny days you are going to want to pack some sunglasses to protect your eyes.
  • Lip balm – It is a good idea to apply a lip balm that has SPF. Having one that works well under lipstick and keeps your lips protected and softened for hours is key.
  • Jewelry – if you are someone that loves wearing sparkly items but is afraid to lose your items or have them stolen, you can pack them with you in your carry-on and have all your sparklies close to you.
  • Wet wipes – one thing I cannot stand is when my hands are dirty. When you are on an airplane you might have to wait in line for the washroom for a long time just to wash your hands. You can eliminate this problem by just packing a small package of hand wipes in your bag. They are great because they don’t take up too much room and come in handy for small spills or clean-ups as well.
  • A journal and a pen– certainly come in handy if you have some ideas you want to write down while you are headed to your destination. You will also need a pen to fill out simple documents before you enter customs. It is a good idea to have a pen of your own so you don’t have to bother someone on the plane for one.
  • Having deodorant – a small bottle of body mist and toothpaste along with a toothbrush are great items to have with you it is a great way to freshen up wherever you are.
  • Reading material – to keep you occupied on your flight or in the airport.
  • Change of clothes – including a bra and underwear just in case your suitcase gets lost. It’s good to have clothes at least to wear the next day while your suitcase is being hunted down.
  • refillable set to use again and again!
  • Makeup – just pack what you need, using a small eyeshadow pallet is ideal for taking along instead of bringing the larger size. These little things add up.
  • Sunscreen – Having a travel-size sunscreen is a great idea. It will easily fit into your bag or purse.
  • Hair tie – I have super thick hair so I require a good elastic to keep all my hair in place. I have tried so many throughout the years and I find these ones work amazing. They stay put and don’t break easily like others I have tried. Another great thing about them is you can get a lot of use out of them before they get worn out.
  • Body spray – I like the travel-size bottles from Victoria’s Secret they smell wonderful and don’t take up much room in your bag.
  • Bathing suit – again it is a good idea to pack a bathing suit in your carry-on just in case your bag goes missing. You will at least have one bathing suit to wear while you are waiting for your luggage. Plus they are small, and easy to fold up so they won’t take up too much space.

Keep in mind that there are rules on what you can take with you in your carry-on bag. Nonflammable liquids are allowed as long as they are in 3.4- ounce or smaller containers. All of the liquids need to fit into one single quart-sized clear sealable plastic bag.
